HACKATHON CHALLENGES

Capsule Hack has identified six challenge categories that intersect with the environment in meaningful, impactful ways. At Capsule Hack, we aim to develop innovative projects for problems at these intersections of the environment and six challenge categories: Art, Education, Energy, Health, Food, and Cities.

ART

All of our hackathon challenge categories are intentionally broad in order to encapsulate the many art-related ideas that have the potential to improve the planet. Everything is welcome—public art designs that double as renewable energy sources, spoken-word, short stories, industrial design, music, product design, fashion—if you can dream it, we want to see it. Submit a project idea here!

INSPIRATION

Here are some incredible projects around the world that have us inspired! No idea is too outlandish. Find your next steps through Capsule Hack’s Innovation Pipeline.

The (Functional) Art of This Century is a series of chairs that point to reusable materials as the future of art and design-making. Co- founder Benoît Wolfrom shares: “The art world is asking, ‘How do we reduce our carbon footprint?’ But the younger generation are using what they have access to, and is asking themselves, ‘How do we move on as a civilization?’”

Plastikophobia is an immersive art installation made from 18,000 plastic cups collected from local food centers across Singapore to raise awareness for single-use plastic pollution. The goal of the project was to use art to kickstart research into disposable plastic cups usage in Singapore, creating an immersive space to spread the feeling of Plastikophobia.
